WHAT IS THE APPROVED CONTRACTOR SCHEME?
As a quality assurance scheme, the Approved Contractor Scheme (ACS) is concerned with service delivery to the end customer. It provides a framework for setting, improving and monitoring the standards of management and of service delivery – from licensable operatives deployed on site through to the executives in the boardroom.
Only approved contractors can display the SIA Approved Contractor mark which is protected by Law.

WHAT DOES ALL THIS MEAN TO YOU?
As you work for an SIA approved contractor your organisation will be assessed by an independent assessing body every 12 months. You may be asked by your organisation to take part in an assessment and you may be asked to speak to a professional assessor either on your normal site, over the telephone or at your company premises. This is your opportunity to tell the assessor what you think of the organisation you work for and to suggest ways in which you think it could improve. The assessor is not trying to catch anyone out, but is simply trying to gain an overall picture of how your organisation works in practice. During the interview the assessor may take notes but these are never shared with your employer. If you have constructive views, we would encourage you to share them.
